Hello again! I know it's been a while since I last posted and well, I've been busy! The holidays were lovely and I really enjoyed the time off the map, unplugged from the iphone, and taking a little break from my day job. Nothing beats spending good quality time with my baby boy and of course, my husband. But now, it's back to reality, the traffic has gotten heavier, and it's time to get focussed. 2011 was a year of transitions, personally and professionally, and I'm confident 2012 will be filled with inevitable unknown changes yet to come. I find it really exciting not knowing what the future holds, and I love change. Without it, we become stagnant, think we own the world, and therefore, can not progress.

So here's what's on my mind...we are currently looking to move soon (a good change) and I just finished reading Celerie Kemble's Black and White over the holidays. I've decided that my new place is going to adhere to a strict color palette of black and white with lots of neutrals mixed in for good measure. In the process, I've been sourcing rugs and furniture and here are a few pieces that are on my inspiration board.

I love the way white piping contrasts against the black fabric. I have a pair of chairs that I have my eye on that I want to recover just like this! How stunning would a custom monogram look on these??!!

A houndstooth chair is a must! It's so British and gentlemanly, yet playful at the same time. Love a good houndstooth print!

I've been searching on Craigslist relentlessly to find the perfect pair of wing back chairs to recover in this large chevron print. I'm going to sell my current round dining table and buy a rustic farmhouse table that expands to fit 10 people and I want these to flank both ends of the table!

I just stumbled across this rug last night while flipping through the Crate and Barrel catalog and I love it! I've found rugs like this online, but you can't beat the price point of this one! Here are a few more images of it from the catalog...

Every saturday afternoon I religiously DVR all my favorite HGTV shows and lazily lounge on my couch relaxing. My favorite shows (besides Color Splash and Candice Olsen) are Sarah's House and Design Inc. I love watching the dynamic duo, Sarah Richardson and Tommy Smythe, remodel and redecorate fabulous spaces. I love their creativity and quirky personalities, and I especially love Tommy's quick wit (his dandy sense of style rocks too)!

I about fell over when I saw Tommy's recent project in House and Home. I love how he mixes traditional elements with a gentleman's haberdashery. Zebra, houndstooth, and gray wool fabrics are so warm and cozy, but I especially love how he offsets these with glossy black walls, crisp white trim and lots of dark wood.

This gold mirror hangs perfectly over the sofa.

I love the look of round mirrors grouped together up the stairs, gives it an aged look.

This bathroom packs so much punch for such a small space! I love when a small powder room has a surprise element like this zig-zag pattern in yellow, black and gray!

Loving the pops of orange mixed with navy! This is fast becoming one of my favorite color combos!

Are you dying over the kitchen yet? He perfectly blended gold hardware with classic chrome faucets. That floor is beyond stellar!

I want that red Chesterfield and I love the mix of gray, black and gold.

Pretty Little Christmas

'Tis the Season to trim the tree, dress the fireplace mantel, and drink some stiff egg nog! Christmas time is here, my favorite time of year, and I'm really inspired to go all out this year!

I absolutely love silver and gold mixed with pastels, it's gives such a twinkling and glittery feel to the holidays.

I love the smell of a real tree, but love the look of a fake white tree dressed in pretty pastel ornaments. If you don't have the real thing, just buy some holiday scented candles and that should make up for it.

I love a tree sitting underneath a staircase in an entryway. Adore all the gold details!

Lots of pretty pink is my favorite accent color for Christmas! It's so cheery and just makes you smile!

Please excuse the mess, I'm wrapping all my gifts! How lovely is this dining room with all it's holiday decor? I love those wreaths too!

Silver ornaments in glass bowls is so easy to do. I do this every year with my silver disco ball ornaments and they just sparkle with the candlelight.

I wish I had a grand fireplace mantel to deck out like this!

More pretty pastels and I love the little bird accent.

This tree is hands down my favorite! It's so playful and bold with it's monkeys as ornaments. I love all the navy and pink and light blue accents!

The Tiffany blue and silver is so serene, I think it's my favorite theme of all!

I recently upgraded my boring black iPhone case while passing through Nordstrom a few weeks ago. Although I believe spending $40 bucks on plastic is a total waste, I was suckered by the unexpectedly cool design I decided to purchase (read more to see what I bought)! Then I started cruising the internet and found these styles from Iomoi that I am absolutely in love with!

I totally want this one with the leopard and gold crest. Love the pink and orange color combo too!

...and here's the Rebecca Minkoff style that I bought! I totally love the snow leopard print that reminds me so much of my favorite fabric by Hinson.

I miss West Hollywood (at times). Back in the days when I worked at the PDC I used to walk down Robertson to the shops on Beverly Blvd. and just hang. I rarely make it east past Beverly Glen these days since I work in Westwood. So when I got the mega heavy new Restoration Hardware catalog for The Gallery, I was intrigued....

Once the flagship location for Williams Sonoma Home, the property has been converted into a one-stop shopping mecca for all things Home. The back parking lot is now a stunning garden complete with hanging chandeliers.

Inside there are fabrics, paints, accessories, bedding, and furniture galore. The dark gray and neutral palette seriously has me swooning!

There's an organic tea salon...

and a fresh floral boutique...

...and of course, tons of beautiful pieces of furniture perfectly styled.

This is by far my favorite room. I'll take the giant chandelier and tufted sofas. I seriously am eyeing the tufted Chesterfield.

...and don't forget their bedding.

I love the simple and clean lines of the sheets and duvets. It's not fussy or prissy, and definitely has enough masculinity to balance the feminine lines of the furniture. I am drooling over this bed. I will definitely be making the trek over to WeHo soon to have a look for myself.

Must Have for Fall: Max Mara Coat

Nothing says hello to Fall better than the understated and luxurious classic Max Mara camel coat.

My favorite color combo of the season is black and tan (or camel and gold). The rich honey tone looks good on blondes and brunettes and complements any color combination.

I especially love it paired down with soft gray, navy, and dark brown, or glammed up with bright reds, pinks, and leopard accents. Thrown over a pair of winter white slacks and turtle neck is absolutely stunning!

If you're going to invest in one piece this season, a coat with clean lines and understated color will carry you through season after season. Choose shoes, purses, and accessories in bolder colors and patterns to

give your look a kick! The October 2011 issue of Harper's Bazaar featured these 3 stylish ladies wearing the same coat in 3 different ways.

Rebirth of Cool: Saucy Glossie

I love fashion bloggers. I stumbled upon Lindsey Calla's blog Saucy Glossie last summer while pregnant and was so inspired by all her adorable fashion ensembles that I couldn't wait to recreate them!

Well, a few weeks ago I was pleasantly surprised to see Lindsey on TV as the spokesperson for TJ MAXX! How cool is that??!! It really goes to show that regular individuals can have such a huge impact on advertising.

I will admit, that when I see Lindsey pair super cute wide legged pants from New York and Company on her blog, I actually do go into the stores to find the same exact items to create looks at more affordable prices.

I'm also curious to step inside a TJ MAXX to find affordable name brand pieces at lower prices, thanks to Lindsey. So great job Lindsey and TJ Maxx for a really well executed ad campaign! I'm pretty much sold and will definitely be stopping by some stores this Fall!

In My 'Hood

I've been meaning to write about Chris Barrett's Brentwood home that was on the cover of House Beautiful this summer, and here we are in Fall now and I figured, better late than never. So here's the deal: I about died when I saw this cover! I walk by this house every time I take little Barron on our neighborhood walks (there's an adorable little 1200 sq. ft colonial style with a white picket fence on the same street listed for just under a million$ that I've had my eye on all summer). So when I saw that front door with those crawling flowers I knew exactly which house was hers!

It got me thinking that I would love to live in a cozy little house, that was perfectly mapped out with little nooks to curl up in and read. Everything has it's place and there's definitely no place for clutter and crap when you live in 1000 sq. ft, which I like. I love a dining room that has built ins and lots of books. It just creates conversation and thoughts and who doesn't love a banquette like the one above???

I love the dark rich woods and lots of white! The perfect balance of texture and clean lines. I would love to just lay here, light the fire and drink wine.

The kitchen is my favorite part by far! The floor to ceiling subway tiles, white marble and dark cabinets are so homey. Don't you just want to pick some oranges from the trees outside and juice them?? This is the California I love and this kitchen is the epitome of casual, healthy living that we love in California.

I love the open shelves with everything easily at hand. I adore a white kitchen but this one makes me remember why I love dark rich woods as well. There's something so earthy about this kitchen that feels really comfortable, yet refined and sophisticated at the same time. It's romantic and I like that.

White tufted bed and white sheets is perfection.

Dining al fresco year round with the cool breezes floating off the Pacific is what makes this whole picture perfect. I can't describe to you how beautiful this neighborhood smells in the summer and winter. There are fruit trees in everyone's yards, gardenias and night jasmines blooming, and the sun shines year round.

The temperature rarely gets above 82 degrees and under 60, which (to me) perfectly justifies the million dollar plus price tag it costs to live in this adorable neighborhood.

My Manicure

Fall is here and you know what that means!!!??? Time to break out my Chanel Vamp and deep red hues for my weekly guilty "lunchtime" pleasure, my manicure. As a working mom, I take my downtime very seriously. Each week I walk to the same little nail salon in Westwood for a mani and trashy mag reading time. It really is the best $10 I could spend, for a little me time.

I'll admit it, I've always loved Demi Moore. Ever since watching St. Elmo's Fire on repeat in my college room dorm, I've just loved her (it's probably that raspy voice and raven hair). Demi is one of those awe inspiring (forgive me for saying "older") beauties that really does get better with age. So this weekend, when I saw the new ad campaign for Ann Taylor, I had to step into the store to see the new looks.

Fall is my absolute favorite time of year and since I was 8 months pregnant last Fall and didn't buy a thing (except elastic waist band pants), I've been re-building my wardrobe this season and having a blast doing it! The baby weight is gone and it feels really great to get back into some smaller sizes (anyone who has had a baby knows it can be challenging to get back to your old self and at times may seem like you never will - trust me keep working at it and you will!!!).

To treat myself I purchased this Downtown Cape from Ann Taylor and I love it!!! It wasn't easy finding the right size since they were practically sold out at every store in Southern California, but I found the last size small (it runs huge) at the Lake Avenue location in my old 'hood in Pasadena (it was 95 degrees out and pretty miserable, but hey, I got my Fall statement piece). So thanks, Demi, you can still manage to inspire and sell out clothes!

I want to sport this look. I am head over heels for tans and grays, cozy neutral colors, and wide legged pants. This outfit becomes a lot less intimidating, yet unbelievably casual and glamourous with the mix of neutrals and of course topped off with fur (or faux fur for my budget)!

Big chunky cowl neck camel sweater, with big gold watch, lots of chain bracelets, and brown leather is a must. This will be my uniform this Fall...lol.

And let's not forget the mile long bell bottom jeans skimming the pavement, paired with platforms and some sort of crazy bohemian fur vest, topped with a simple gray v-neck!!! Bring on the Fall weather already!!!

New Favorite Fabric Source

After searching the internet for David Hicks' La Fiorentina fabric, I came across this fabulous knock off at only $18 per yard from Spoonflower.

As I started browsing their site, I found many of my favorite fabric styles at nearly a fraction of the price the originals cost. This spotted fabric is one of my favorites that I've been wanting to do for the bench at the foot of my bed. It reminds me of Snow Leopard that Jan Showers uses frequently in her interiors. It has such a glamorous vibe and I could totally see lots of gold and black used as accents with this one!

I always love a beautiful pink ikat! This is such a fun print that adds a comfortable element to any room and a punch of pink is so much fun!

I love a good graphic geometric shape and this navy color way feels masculine and mature to me, but mixed with a bright pop of pink in a room would be so chic!

Of course I love a black and white chevron so I had to include it. I adore chevron, one of my first acrylic on canvas paintings I did in Art Class my sophomore year of high school was in this pattern and I still have it. Every time I see this print, I get happy.

This purple ikat is perfect! Pair it with navy, yellow, brown, black and you have a rich accent for any chair you are recovering. I want to do this on a pair of Louis style chairs with black painted frames or even on the bed bench.

I want this watch. Oh Hello, again blog friends!!! Yes I've been completely consumed for the past few weeks with other things like managing a full-time career with motherhood, and balancing it out with lots of leisurely things on the weekends (like shopping)! I love watches and this Cartier Tank is on my wish list! I think it's classic, timeless, and elegant. Jackie O used to wear this style and so did Princess Diana. I just love the gold face with the Roman numerals and the black crocodile band.

I love how it looks paired on the same arm with a bracelet. It's so lady like and sophisticated. Worn daily is totally appropriate for the office, or worn casually paired with jeans and a tee, it even works with a cocktail dress. Here are some other watch styles and looks that I absolutely love...

Gold watch, gold bracelets, gold signet ring, utter perfection!

Gucci Westman wears her Cartier Tank with a brown leather band, and gold signet ring paired with wedding bands. I love seeing how other people wear their daily jewelry pieces in a unique way.

I love this classic orange Hermes style paired with lots of bracelets!

This one has me swooning! Big gold watch and an Hermes enamel cuff perfectly complement each other! I just wish the prices of gold weren't sky rocketing right now because these pieces are almost double what they were a few years ago.

And of course, there's the gold Rolex that is at the top of the price range. I tried on this bad boy at the Rolex store in Century City and it's a whopping $28k!!! It's so beautiful though and I love how Posh rocks it! Digging her chic short 'do, black tee, and leather leggings. I spy a black and gold Hermes enamel bracelet on her right arm!

Rachel Zoe's men's Cartier watch is gorgeous! Again, I love how she styles her wedding rings with other cool pieces of jewelry. Chick has style.

I've had my eye on this bad boy for many months now, and I've finally found they are available online at Saks Fifth Avenue! The YSL Arty Ring is an absolute statement making stunner! As you may or may not know, I collect turquoise (and lots of it)! The combo of gold and turquoise has the best energy and mixes so well with other pieces. It's the epitome of sophisticated bohemian chic that I love! Here are a few other YSL styles I adore...

This look is seriously hot, I love the red, mixed with blue, green and black accents! I spy a red Hermes cuff bracelet that I'm coveting these days.

Bag of the Day: Mulberry

I've had my eye on a few Mulberry purses for the past few years now. Then, when I saw Kate Middleton sporting the exact same purse on my wish list, I became even more convinced that I have to have it!

The Mulberry Polly Push Lock Bag is classic, timeless, and well worth the investment. Looks like a piece I would carry around for years and the leather looks like it will only get better with age! Thanks Kate, for inspiring us all, yet again! (Note to self: buy navy blazer with gold buttons and pair with navy dress and black accessories!)

My Creative Process

You may have noticed, we have a new look around here! So much has been going on in my life these days, including having this blog redesigned by Jenna of QA Design. I first came across her work through various bloggers I follow and was quite impressed by the before and after photos of her work. Here is a before photo of my old blog template...

Although I was very happy with the look of it, I was ready for a change. I thought it would be fun to share with you some of the elements that served as my inspiration. After playing around with fonts I knew I wanted to keep a similar look, but kick it up a notch. I played around with fonts and decided on using Edwardian and BlairMDTT. I feel the script and print are masculine and feminine, uptown and downtown, both elements of my personality.

Next, deciding on an accent color was a bit challenging for me. If you have been reading this blog, you know just how much I am loving gold! Black and white has always been my signature combo, however pushing myself to go with gold was scary at first, but I love how it looks!

I've been seeing gold everywhere these days, so I decided to leave the coral pink behind and just go for it and I'm glad I did!

I love the simplicity of Kelly Wearstler's website. I think it's good design at it's finest. It's clean, simple, and serves a purpose, which are all elements of good design in my book. I love the graphic impact of the black and white with gold accents!

This chain link design from Iomoi is my absolute favorite, so I knew I had to incorporate it somehow into the design. I wear a gold chain link bracelet everyday, so I thought it would be the perfect element to bring in as an accent.

This Hermes tray that I found online also served as inspiration. I just love this design!

I totally think my designer Jenna got it just right! Now, about my designer, I can not say enough great things about her! I was a little apprehensive of hiring someone that I didn't know, but decided to just give it a shot and I am ever so grateful for working with her! She was beyond patient, going back and forth with me, making changes and adjustments. I am probably not your average client. I studied Graphic Design in college and in my day job I place designers in creative jobs, so I am very hands on and love being part of the creative process. I am an absolute perfectionist when it comes to the details, so I am ever so thankful for working with Jenna. Things got a little tense when she was doing the final install because my previous code was acting up, but in the end she figured it out and got everything set up beautifully! I felt like we really worked as a team to get it all done! I would highly recommend anyone to work with her and I can't say enough great things about her!

I'm off to San Diego this weekend for my friend Laura's bachelorette party! We've known each since we were 11 years old and I can't wait to catch up with my dearest friends! I am really having a gold moment these days. I know, gold is everywhere and everyone is doing it, but I keep catching myself more and more obsessed with this metal. Bad for me, because it's really gone up in price over the last couple of years (at least the real stuff). So I decided to check out J. Crew's line of jewelry for inspiration. Here are a few of my favorite gold (inspired) pieces that I am coveting.....

I want the necklace up top! Layered over a turtle neck in the winter or on bare tanned skin in the summer is the perfect year round accessory. This bracelet would be perfect layered on the same arm with a gold Michael Kors watch.

There is something about the design of the gold chain link that I am in love with. My Marc Jacobs purse has this killer gold chain link strap (it's unbelievably heavy too!) and lately I've been really inspired by the design of links. It's so richly feminine done in gold, and sprinkled with diamonds looks even hotter! It gives it a hard core element that I love, yet reminds me of something you'd wear to the country club.

I wear this Ralph Lauren bracelet (below) that I found at Bloomingdale's on sale at Christmas everyday. It totally works with my other jewelry to give that layered gold look and it's held up pretty nicely.

I mix it up with this new Michael Kors watch that I treated myself to a few weeks ago. I'm seriously in love!

For me accessories are key. I may wear clothes that I have had for a while, but incorporating new accessories is a great way to bring life to old outfits. If you have the basics, in good neutral colors, you can create a new look with great accessories and this way, people are more likely to notice your personality and signature style.

How cute is this one with the orange walls and turquoise couch!? I love how playfully whimsical these are, yet totally chic.

I'm so impressed and in awe of all the attention to detail. I studied painting in high school and college and always wanted to be able to interpret a real life setting like this. Caitlin is so talented!

She's now selling some of her original artworks and I want one! When she's not painting for herself, she is also working for some of my favorite brands like Kate Spade, Tory Burch, and Hermes. I've long wanted a diamond solitaire necklace in a bezel setting, so over the weekend I did a little research, and came up with these styles.

Set in a white gold setting is timeless and would complement my wedding and engagement rings perfectly, but lately I've been a little bored with silver and white gold. Don't get me wrong, I own a ton of it, but for some reason it isn't quite doing it for me.

Now we're talking! I love the way it looks set in gold, and I especially love how this looks sitting on a woman's collar bone very delicately.

I've been slowly adding to my gold collection. I love my Michael Kors watch and Ralph Lauren bracelets that I layer with it. For Christmas last year, my husband gave me a really thin gold wedding band that I wear with my white gold engagement ring, and I just love how diamonds look next to gold!

So, this is on my wish list. I want to wear it everyday, layered with other necklaces like turquoise gemstones set on long gold chains, and I promise to never take it off!

My New Favorite Fabric

A few weeks ago Hallie, over at The Glam Lamb, did a post about Liz Caan, my new favorite interior design crush. I immediately fell in love with her work, but was even more intrigued by the fabric on the throw pillow, tossed casually in the white chair above with the Hermes blanket. I later discovered while browsing through the latest issue of Lonny that it's Thomas Paul for Duralee.

I love anything with a peacock feather! This pattern in particular is really speaking to me because it's so graphic and packs a punch. The brown color way Liz used works so well in this interior, it totally can stand alone, but it complements the other pieces in the room so nicely. I love everything going on in this room! The bright orange monogrammed pillows, the faux fur blanket, the dog painting, mixed with the mirrored nightstands. Set against the calming blue walls is absolute perfection in my eyes!

Love the deep plum too, I could see this one used in a dining room...

Of course, I love any great neutral with a great pattern! This one would be my first choice to cover my bench at the foot of my bed. I'm feeling inspired again!!!

Pinks + Tans

This is, hands down, my most favorite color palette for summer! Who doesn't look good with tan skin and pink cheeks??? What I love most about this combo is the energy it exudes! It just screams confident, sexy, woman!

Translated into an interior like this is also breath taking! I love how this wood console comes alive with a pink lamp, paired with this bold piece of art. I want to re-create that canvas, playing with this color combo - so easy to do!

Bright pink with nudes is so casual, chic, and effortless!

My new favorite thing to do on Saturday mornings is to walk little Barron in the stroller up to San Vicente Blvd. in Brentwood. First, we grab a grande coffee at the 'Bux and then we stop in for fresh flowers at Whole Foods. For the last 2 weeks in a row, they've had pink peonies, my favorite flower.

Last weekend, I decided to splurge, and went for the $25 peonies! There's a reason these babies are more money, they are absolutely wonderful! I am beyond amazed at how gorgeous they are and each day the pink changes colors.

They are now becoming more of a lighter coral pink. It's so inspiring to find colors in nature that are so uplifting. I am loving the energy they have brought into our home this week!

Crushing on Commune

I was first stopped dead in my tracks a few years ago when I saw this Hollywood home in Domino Magazine, designed by Commune Design, and have had it in my "dream home" folder ever since. If someone was to ask me what my dream home looks like, this is the exact picture I would show them.

I'm constantly browsing real estate websites in search of my dream starter home. I look at so many and try to envision if they have the potential to be painted dark gray (or black) with white trim and many of them do. For me, this graphic combo is it! It's also so easy to do and recreate, yet you rarely see it. I could totally see a valley Ranch style home or English Colonial in this combo.

I love how versatile this combo is with many different architectural styles. The addition of perfectly manicured hedges and crisp white planter pots is simple and chic. I could totally see doing a yellow or red front door here too!

For the backyard, I would definitely do chaises with big bold black and white striped cushions! The water sculpture is beyond! Seriously, so calming, peaceful, and serene.

My first Mother's Day was really sweet spending time alone with the Little B! I took Barron and Sophie for an early morning stroll to Starbucks in Brentwood.

We picked up some pink peonies at Whole Foods (my favorite flower).

We spent the evening having dinner with my family in Manhattan Beach.

I was playing around with the Hipstamatic app on my iphone and absolutely love how the pictures look with the sun setting in the background!

Taking pictures is so much more fun now with this app!

and a lot of Tequila

Enjoy with lots of salt and limes in a backyard with all your friends!

Laura & Diego Garcia's Apartment

I've seen these pictures circulating around the blogosphere and I couldn't resist posting them! I'm totally enamored with Laura and Diego Garcia's New York apartment. The talented photographer, Claiborne Swanson Frank, captured the couple's home beautifully. I always love seeing how other people live and again this one is going into my "when I design my chic city apartment/condo" folder. More and more I'm thinking a small space may be the answer to our "family" home. A smaller space means less junk to store, I mean really, who needs more stuff???

So here's what I spy that's been on my eye: purple amethyst geode in the top pic, Tom Ford book, black painted dining room walls, casual guitar again out in the open, chrome and glass table, white walls, and lots of family pics.

Have I told you I have white furniture on the brain, especially a plush white leather couch?? Well, I do and I think this would make one of the best pieces to have with kids...no stains!!! Plus, white is so easy to change up with lots of different throw pillows. Seriously coveting that piece of art - I want it!

I'll sit at this computer any day! This glass or lucite desk is perfect to float in the room. Often times with apartments rooms have to function in a couple of ways. I love the living/family room/office combo. Who needs a million rooms in the house??? Keeps everyone together and able to hang out in one space which is more fun!

I was stopped dead in my tracks when I saw baby Georgiana's room! The giant neon pink picture of Liz Taylor is genius! And set against gray walls with lots of white accents is it for me! I'm swooning!

Hmmm...if I don't one day have a baby girl's nursery to decorate, then I'm just going to put this neon pink pic in an entryway...I really love it that much and when you love art that much, you must surround yourself in it!

Music is My Boyfriend

I want to buy a turntable, receiver and amplifier just like this. See, I grew up listening to my dad's record collection and lately I've been wanting to hear all that old music. Now granted, I have most of it downloaded on iTunes, but it's just not the same.

I miss moving my fingers through the albums and looking at the cool art work. I felt more connected to the artists when I could see a physical album vs. nowadays quickly downloading a song, only to really never play it again. I used to play albums over and over and over again with my friends. I miss that.

Crushing on Jennifer Ferreira

I came across these photos a while ago and they've been sitting in my "when I design my dream condo/apartment in the city this is how I will do it" folder. I love everything about this place. Jennifer Ferreira is the talented designer behind these images and she is currently on my radar for inspiring designers. Zebra rug, check, Louis style furniture, check, acrylic, check, Mies Van Der Rohe style chaise, check, gold accents, drum shade, espresso wood floors, and Tom Ford coffee table book, check!

I mean seriously, don't you want to just hang out in this room, listen to music, play the piano, pop some bubbly, and chill, while entertaining your fabulous friends?? I sure as hell do! And it's kid friendly enough for my little baby Barron to run around or ride his bike when he gets old enough!

I love when guitars are just hanging out in a room screaming "play me!" My sister (Miss Valentine) and I were just talking about this the other day, that it looks very cool when musical instruments are left out for anyone to play. I always said that when I have kids, I want them to learn how to play musical instruments. I took piano lessons for years, but I always admired people who could strum a guitar.

I love the cleanliness of this minimal room. I've been thinking more and more about living with less. I've done a ton of cleaning out and organizing trying to create a living space that isn't dominated with "stuff." I really believe that when you live with less, you are happier. At times I feel so inundated with society preaching that more is better, that we need more and more to be happy. I couldn't disagree more! So with that said, here is my example of the perfect space that exemplifies less is more.

"Honey, I'm Home!" I want to just throw my keys and purse down on this little vignette when I get home. I love white furniture, the color combo white + pink + black and this wallpaper is super cool (I think I've seen it in pink before in Kelly Wearstler's stairway, no??!!)

Another thing to check off the list - BLACK DOORS! I have promised myself that one day I will paint every door in my "dream city condo/apartment" black. How utterly chic, especially with the gold knobs!!!???

It screams L.A. in all its decadent 80s glory! It was my "dream" car during all those silly childhood games of MASH. That was it. Period. For me, it was the ultimate Lady Car, the kind of lady that wore red lipstick, had perfectly manicured nails, didn't think twice about wearing a wrap dress with stilettos, blasted Steely Dan or Don Henley on her tapedeck, lived in a highrise off Sunset, drank gin gimlets, and had a path of Giorgio perfume following her everywhere she went.

I still promise to one day trade in the E350 for the sexy little (almost vintage) Roadster a la American Gigolo style.

It's been a while since I dusted off my most treasured bottle of perfume

Carthusia Mediterraneo. I've been in the mood to be transported to the island of Capri where scents of lemon, jasmine, magnolia, and fig linger through the mediterranean.

When Jackie O used to visit the island, she would often stop in at the perfumery and buy a bottle of Capri, her signature scent.

I've been to Italy, but never to Capri. It's one of my top places to visit - I can't explain it, but I just have a special place in my heart for the Mediteranean. How great would it be to sit here perched on top of the sea drinking Limoncello?? I can just picture the smells of the island in the air.

My Capri will have to be in L.A. lounging at my pool, with sunglasses, beach towel, and rag mag in hand.

God I need a vacation!

Rebirth of Cool: Kate Lanphear

Why have I not heard of this woman before??? While reading the May issue of ELLE, I was immediately drawn to her edgy and punk rock hair style.

Kate Lanphear is ELLE's Style Director and one cool chick in my book. I love her androgynous style and I especially love her hair. I don't know what it is, but I have always loved this hair cut.

I really dig the way she combines elements of 80s glam rock with a modern edge to create a unique look that is hard core. She just looks tough, but with her soft features, it works.

She kind of reminds me of Warhol mixed with Bowie.

Ok, this is just too chic for words. She totally rocks the power suit!

The all black reminds me of Johnny Cash.

I want her hair cut. I would totally be taking a step outside of myself, but these days, I'm feeling courageous to try new things with my look.

I'm married, have a kid, and want to have a little fun experimenting. I know I'm not 21 anymore, when these styles are a bit more acceptable and experimenting is the norm, but the truth is, I just really don't give a sh#$!!!

The only thing is: my husband said he hates short hair on women. We shall see.....

Olivia's Hair

I don't hate this woman. Who would have thought that "Olivia from The City" would become a stylish fashion icon??? Not I, of course, but I have since moved on from thinking she was the mean girl tormenting Whitney, to just simply adoring her style, especially that gorgeous hair!

I have officially moved on from idolizing Jen Aniston's hair (Ok it only took 15 years)! My new favorite 'do is a one length shoulder skimming cut a la Ms. Palermo.

I think this is one of the chicest hairstyles any woman can pull off and I just love the rich brown color of Olivia's hair. It's so natural and so stunning and so youthful!

I took some pics of Olivia with me when I decided to change up my hair recently. My hair had gotten really long (I love long hair), and layered, and I felt like I was resembling a Real Housewive of Wherever (if you watch Bravo, you know what I mean - btw, I am obsessed with all the Real Housewives, it's my favorite show, but I just don't want to look like them, especially the OC ones!)

So once my bangs grow out, I'm gonna rock this haircut! I'm all about changing my hair now.

Fromental Friday

I first fell in love with this hand painted wall paper when I worked at The David Sutherland Showroom in Los Angeles in 2006. Fromental was my all-time favorite wall covering line that the showroom represented and I'm still dreaming of the day when I use it in my own dining room or entry way.

Tim Butcher, former Creative Director for the world renowned Chinoiserie house, De Gournay , and his wife Lizzy Deshayes started the company in 2005. I had the pleasure of meeting Tim one night at a party in Hancock Park at the home of interior decorators Hal and Dan.

Tim was quite the character, I loved his kooky London cockney, and I would describe him as a hot "design" nerd reminiscent of Austin Powers, but that was just my impression.

I love this chinoiserie called Paradiso, especially in the green! I want canary yellow curtains to match!

That striped carpet on the stairs screams London cool....reminds me of something The Rug Company would make...who knows???

This gray colorway is timeless and perfect!

This was the print I wanted for my "dream" nursery.

I could never tire of this one in a dining room with white Louis Chairs with pink fabric! The pops of green give off the best energy and the brown keeps it subtle and unexpected.

I apologize for being MIA lately...between going back to my day job as a Creative Recruiter, taking care of baby Barron, and trying to have a personal life, my blogging has taken a backseat. Ok, I did it, I actually got a new hair style! For someone that loves change so much, changing my hair is a totally different story. Now, I'm officially rockin' the bangs, and I LOVE it!!! My wonderful hairstylist in West Hollywood, Justin Teal, cut me longer bangs in the front and did a one length shoulder cut in the back. My post-pregnancy hair is so much healthier and I'm diggin' the updated 70s style. Change is good. And hair grows.

I first came across my new style crush, Miroslava Duma, on Stephanie's blog One Sweet Lemon. Miro, as she is called, is a former editor at Harper's Bazaar (Russia) and is a fashion writer and constant subject of my favorite photographer The Sartorialist.

Besides being blown away by her insane fashion sense, I am totally feeling inspired to cut some bangs!

As you may or may not know, I had a baby boy almost 4 months ago and my maternity leave will be coming to an end this week. So, before I head back to Corporate America (in my day job I work as a Recruiter at The Creative Group), I booked a hair cut with my stylist and am contemplating showing him these pics as inspiration.

How cute do Miro's bangs look with her long hair??!! I love how youthful (well she's 25) she looks and I want to look the same. I totally need a change from my usual (i.e. long layers with a pic of Jen Aniston in hand showing my stylist - lol!)

I'm thinking if they look terrible, I can at least wear them styled back until they grow out and can be cut into long layers.

So what are your thoughts? Are bangs totally lame? Or do I go for it and try something new?

This neutral color palette has been on my mind lately! I love the way older wood antique pieces look against gray walls, and with the addition of graphic accents like black and white greek key patterns they fit together cohesively with the more contemporary pieces in the room.

Again, the use of a chevron rug is perfect! I also am inspired to use black and white gingham fabric as an accent, which I wouldn't have considered, but I love how casual and comfy it can make a room feel.

I have inherited a couple of antiques like the vanity and dresser (in the top pic above). They are pieces that are dear to me, although I probably wouldn't have ever bought them for myself because they aren't really my style. I think the use of dark gray, brown, and gold is a really great way to blend them with other elements in the room. They no longer feel so "old" and "granny-like" or what I call "Little House on the Prairie". Don't get me wrong, the pieces featured here are drop dead gorgeous antiques!!!

Done and done. This room can do no wrong in my book! Love the paisley tapestry bedding, gold frames, light gray walls, and mix of chocolate brown and wood furniture! I want to have a cocktail in this room!

I have my eye on this tufted bed! It's so plush and those gray/brown taupe walls are lovely. This is just right on! I'm drawing inspiration from this room for a client's master bedroom re-do in the Valley.

Beach Pad Project: Chevron Rug

The Manhattan Beach Project is coming along nicely, the desk looks fabulous and the rug just arrived! After searching the internet, I found this one from Milliken that is the exact color and look we are going for and it fits within the budget for a 5'4"x7'8" rug at just $165! I was a little hesitant ordering off the internet, but the reviews seemed decent enough and I figured how bad could it be? Well, much to my hesitation, it's much better in person than online!!! I'm so excited and I'm definitely going to use this one again for future projects.

Mom Cave {My Office}

Over the weekend the dining room became my new office. Our living room is now a living/dining room since we never sat at the table when it was in the dining room and it basically was a waste of space (like most dining rooms are). My OCD kicked into high gear and I spent all day yesterday cleaning out, rearranging, and organizing. After a trip to IKEA to pick up some supplies I dove head first into this project. (I apologize if the pics look grainy, I took them with my new iphone that I love!)

Here is the room before:

I love to collect books so I forced myself to toss the paperbacks (i.e. all the chick lit books I read in my 20s) to make room to store my office supplies.

I save birthday cards, thank you notes, love letters, and invitations to weddings, which I keep in my old shoe boxes...yes, I am sentimental like that and I just can't bring myself to toss them, which I probably should, but won't.

I did manage to toss all my old fashion mags a few months ago, so what is left are my beloved Dominos, Elle Decor (I found one from '99 with Lulu DK's pad on the cover!), and House and Garden.

Here is the office now!!! I absolutely love it! I decided my desk needed to be moved because I wanted a conversation area to hang out in and now I can look out the window.

I purchased the Kassett organizers in white from IKEA which I am madly in love with! They are cheap, look great, and totally do the job when it comes to organizing all your stuff neatly. The bottom row looks all black because that's where all my photo albums are stored.

It's crazy to me how much storage the Expedit offers. It's seriously one of the best things I have purchased to keep everything in it's place. I really think every new mom should own one of these for their kid's room because of all the organization it offers - it's the perfect place to store books, diapers, wipes, toys, clothes, etc. Little Barron is getting one in white when we move!

Notice the swatches of fabric on my Louis Chair (purchased for $50 on Craigslist - it's practically brand new)??? I've been saying for months I'm going to get it reupholstered and I'm finally going to pull the trigger. I'm painting the frame glossy white and using black ostrich leather for the fabric. I can't wait to see the finished product!

Seriously loving my 27" iMac and all of Apple's products for that matter. They're just really insanely cool!

I am so in love with my new office aka Mom Cave!

Beach Pad Project: White Desk

I've been working on sourcing white desks for my client in Manhattan Beach and have found the perfect piece that I thought I would share with all of you. Her inspiration is the Jett Desk above from Z Gallerie, although stunning and so cool, it doesn't fit within the redecorating budget.

I stumbled upon this little number (The Josephine Desk) while shopping for wine and chocolates at Cost Plus in El Segundo this past weekend!!!! My client absolutely loves it and I was stoked that it was on sale for $179.99! Stay tuned for more fabulous finds and I can't wait to show you the finished product!
